Starting in the charming town of Piran, the route takes you through Portorož, the Sečovlje Saltworks, and scenic hills to the artistic town of Grožnjan. Enjoy views of the Mirna Valley and explore cobblestone streets filled with art studios. This route offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, historical landmarks, and local gastronomy.

Through Vineyards and Truffle-Rich Villages to Poreč

From Grožnjan, cycle through the heart of Istria to Livade, the world center of truffles, where you can taste delicacies such as fresh truffles. The journey continues to Motovun, a renowned medieval town famous for its breathtaking panoramas and truffle festival. The route then descends toward Poreč, with opportunities to visit the Baredine Cave and the UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica.

Coastal Charm of Rovinj and the Cultural Riches of Istria

Continue the journey from Poreč to Rovinj, passing through the lush Kontija Forest and Svetvinčenat, home to the Renaissance Morosini-Grimani Castle. The route concludes in the "Pearl of the Adriatic" - Rovinj, with its narrow cobblestone streets, St. Euphemia's Church, and vibrant atmosphere. At 9am we have a welcome briefing at the hotel and those who have ordered bike rental will get fitted with our bikes and other equipment. We will transfer you with bikes to your start point in Muggia.

You will cycle on a traffic free asphalted cycle path - the former narrow-gauge railway line Parenzana which penetrates deeply into the Istrian peninsula connecting 33 Istrian towns between Porec and Trieste, located today on the territory of even three states. This journey offers a mix of scenic landscapes, charming villages, and the refreshing sea breeze of the Adriatic. Overnight in Piran/Portorose.

Your journey begins in the picturesque town of Piran, known for its medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Before you hop on your bike, take a moment to explore the narrow streets and visit landmarks like St. George’s Church, which offers panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea. You will cycle all along Piran Bay through Portorož and Lucija towns to Sečovlje Salt Pans. The Sečovlje salts pans are the northernmost salt flats in the Mediterranean. The salt is produced in the traditional way based on a 700-year-old method that harmonizes man and nature. You can visit it's museum. After you cross Slovenian - Croatian border Parenzana will take uphill along the gravel trail where you can enjoy the view on the whole bay with saltworks and the alps in the background.

From Kanegra, you’ll head inland towards Grožnjan. The route takes you through rolling hills and vineyards, showcasing the lush Istrian countryside. As you approach Grožnjan, known for its vibrant art scene and charming streets, you’ll be greeted by stunning views of the Mirna Valley.

Upon arrival in Grožnjan, take your time to explore the artistic village filled with galleries and studios. Stroll through the cobbled streets and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, savoring Istrian delicacies and perhaps a glass of local wine. Overnight in Grožnjan area.

Arrive in Motovun, a picturesque hilltop town renowned for its stunning medieval architecture and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Perched atop a 277-meter-high hill, it features narrow cobblestone streets, ancient city walls, and charming stone houses. The town is famous for its truffles, making it a culinary hotspot, especially during the annual truffle festival. Overnight in Motovun.

Begin in the historic town center, enjoying the views before you set off. Cycle down the winding roads from Motovun towards Vižinada. Continue riding on Parenzana trail and enjoy the beautiful Istrian countryside, with vineyards and olive groves lining your path. Taste home-made food, wine and honey produced in this area. Take a short break in Vižinada, a charming village with a local café.

From there, follow the bike paths leading to Poreč. The route offers lovely views of the landscape, and you may pass through other small villages along the way.You will pass by Nova Vas village where you can visit Baredine Cave. Once in Poreč, visit the famous Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and stroll along the seafront promenade. Enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants in the old town. Overnight in Poreč.

Cycling from Poreč to Vrsar offers a scenic ride through the beautiful Istrian landscape, blending coastal views, charming towns, and natural attractions. Follow the cycling path along the coast, enjoying views of crystal clear sea, beaches and small bays you will reach Vrsar. Vrsar is a beautiful fisherman town preched on a hill, offering stunning views on the coast and islands. Take time ti visit the old town, St. Martin's church, or relax at the marina. Vrsar is known for its artistically significant history and its connection to the famous Italian adventurer who came back event two times. Head toward the Kontija Forest, a lush green area ideal for nature lovers. The forest is protected, rich in Mediterranean flora, and offers shaded paths perfect for cycling. In Kontija, there are several viewpoints where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Lim Bay and its surroundings. Overnight in Poreč.

In the morning you will take a shuttle to Kanfanar, a small town above the Lim valley. Start riding on a small local road, first you will reach Svetvinčenat. With its grandiose Morosini-Grimani citadel with towers, parish church, municipal loggia and a line of 16th century houses of the Renaissance and a town cistern - šterna in the middle, Svetvinčenat really belongs to a range of the most attractive Venetian creations of that period effected in this region which held one of the rare witchcraft trials in Istria during 17th century.

Continue cycling on asphalted road you will reach Bale. You can visit the Bembo palace, city square and museum. From Bale you will be riding on mix of gravel and asphalted roads and trail all along the coast until you will reach Rovinj, the "Pearl of Adriatic“. Known for its picturesque old town and vibrant harbor. With narrow cobblestone streets, colorful Venetian-style buildings, and a bustling waterfront, Rovinj exudes a unique blend of history and Mediterranean charm. The town’s centerpiece is the Church of St. Euphemia, which offers stunning views from its bell tower. Rovinj is also famous for its lively arts scene, delicious seafood restaurants, and beautiful beaches. The nearby islands and nature parks provide opportunities for outdoor activities, making Rovinj a popular destination for both relaxation and adventure. Overnight in Rovinj.

Wow! it’s hard to summarize this amazing week we spent in the Irian peninsula starting in the Adriatic coast of Slovenia and ending in the beautiful port town of Rovinj. From beginning, beginning to end, Fiore Was fantastic to work with. We are a family with kids and they were super accommodating about getting us the bikes we needed as well as booking the type of hotels that we wanted. They curated the trip to fit us and we really appreciated their efforts. Locally, Our point person, Peter, really went above and beyond. He made sure that everything ran smoothly and troubleshooted if Any issues came up. He was very helpful with recommendations and really great. Gave us the grand tour of the area. I wasn’t expecting that he would be that hands-on with the Tour since it was an unguided tour. Thank you, Peter for all of your efforts with us! regarding the particular tour that we did through the Austrian peninsula, it was breathtaking. Medieval mountain villages tucked away in wine country regions with Olive groves, and of course, truffles and amazing food. All of that plus stunning beach towns with Venetian and Roman architecture to marvel at. Most of the ride was On a defunct railroad line so it was protected from traffic. It was pretty bumpy so I would say that I was happy that our mileage was low because it was tough writing and we really liked using bikes. We had enough time that way to see the beautiful town in the afternoons evenings. there are bike operators in Europe and a lot of them are just third parties. These guys are direct on the ground folks and I couldn’t recommend them more. We can’t wait to go back to Croatia, which has to be one of the most beautiful countries with extremely friendly people and, it really checks all the boxes of what you’re looking for in Europe with less tourists than some other places out there.

We had fantastic time. The route was perfect for us and each day was interesting. The choice of hotels was good, the transfers efficient ( with one hiccup but this happens). Overall we were very happy. > Thank you for all your help with arranging it, it was such a pleasure.
