Cycle Parenzana, ex railway trail, today one of the most beautiful in the world
Tour starts with a transfer to Buje where we start cycling Parenzana on gravel with our mountain bikes. Parenzana was a narrow – gauge Austrian, 123 kilometres long, railway connecting Trieste with Poreč through a series of Istrian small towns. The railway was in function from 1902. until 1935., today the track has been rearranged for cycling and hiking paths wandering through Istrian hills.
We’ll cycle on undulating roads and tracks which take us through vineyards and olive groves, so it will become obvious why it was also called the railway of the wine. With it’s pretty views, hilltop towns and picturesque rivers, the Parenzana also hides secret tunnels which we’ll discover. After arriving in the village Livade it’s possible to continue riding to Motovun where our adventure will end. Transfer to Poreč.
