Active vacation brings so many benefits in life, both physical and health. One of the ways to spend an active vacation in Croatia is cycling through the beautiful, untouched nature.
Why is self-guided cycling good?
Joining a self-guided cycling tour offers a multitude of benefits for physical and mental well-being. It is an excellent exercise that engages various muscle groups, promoting strength and flexibility, but is gentle on the joints. Spending time outdoors, in nature, has been shown to reduce stress levels and encourages mindfulness and presence in the moment.
Adventure on two wheels
Cycling is a great way to explore new destinations – new trails, paths, and landscapes, fostering a sense of adventure and discovery. Whether it’s exploring parks, countryside roads, or rugged mountain trails, each cycling journey offers the opportunity for exploration and excitement.
Explore the most beautiful places in Croatia
Croatia is a home of eight national parks and eleven nature parks known for their beauty and untouched nature. Imagine cycling through the greenery and clear air and stop to enjoy the stunning view. You can do this by riding a bike through Croatian parks such as National Park Velebit, Risnjak, and Paklenica or Nature Park Ucka.
Velebit – breathtaking views and diverse terrain for riders
While visiting Velebit, there are several points of interest you shouldn’t miss:
- Northern Velebit National Park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, and it is one of the places on UNESCO World Heritage List.
- Located in Northern Velebit National Park, Zavizan is a popular starting point for cycling excursions. Cyclists can ride along paved roads leading to Zavizan Mountain Hut, which sits at an elevation of 1,600 meters and offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
- Zavratnica Bay, a picturesque inlet surrounded by steep cliffs. Beautiful eyeshot on popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking in crystal-clear water.
National Park Paklenica
Situated at the southern end of Velebit, Paklenica National Park is renowned for its canyons, rock formations, and a variety of trails, ranging from easy gravel paths to more challenging singletracks.
Rozanski Kukovi is another striking rock structure in Paklenica National Park. It has lush vegetation, deep gorges, and steep cliffs. Because the terrain is rugged, steep, and frequently unreachable by bike, if you want to visit them, we advise that you do so while hiking.
